What is Regaine for Women Scalp Foam (5%)?

Regaine For Women Scalp Foam is a treatment to help prevent hair loss and promote hair regrowth in women, if the cause is hereditary or follows a female pattern of hair loss.

Hair loss is typically caused when the follicles in your scalp get smaller over time, meaning your hair gets thinner and lighter. Regaine can help your hair follicles to get bigger, so that your hair can grow back strong.

How does it work?

Regaine For Women Scalp Foam contains the active ingredient minoxidil. This promotes blood flow to the hair follicles in your scalp, to help them get bigger and supply more nutrients to your hair.

How to use Regaine for Women Scalp Foam (5%)

To use Regaine for Women:

1. Use a comb to part your hair in the affected area, making sure as much of your scalp is visible as possible.
2. Massage 1g of foam (half a capful of foam) into your scalp using your fingertips.
3. You may need to part your hair again to make sure that you cover the entire affected area with foam.
4. Repeat once per day.

This product should be applied directly to the scalp and is for external use only. Avoid contact with your eyes.

This product is extremely flammable and should be used and disposed of carefully.

Regaine for Women side effects

Like all medication, Regaine for Women can cause some side effects, although not everyone will get them. Side effects include:

• headache
• itching or dermatitis
• unwanted hair growth in places other than the scalp (including facial hair). To avoid this, make sure you wash your hands after using this product and rinse thoroughly if you accidentally get this product onto any other part of your body
• nausea
• change in hair texture (stop using this product if this occurs)

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects

If you experience any of the following side effects, stop using this product and seek medical help immediately:

• chest pain
• low or high blood pressure
• fast heartbeat or palpitations
• faintness or dizziness
• swollen hands or feet
• shortness of breath
• sudden unexpected weight gain
• redness or rash

Seek emergency medical help if you experience the symptoms of an allergic reaction:

• swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
• difficulty breathing or swallowing
• skin redness
• itching

Who can’t use Regaine for Women Scalp Foam (5%)?

Do not use Regaine for Women Scalp Foam if you are allergic to minoxidil or you:

• are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding
• are a man
• are under the age of 18 or over the age of 65
• have hair loss caused by drug treatment
• have total baldness or complete loss of all body hair
• have sudden or unexpected hair loss, or hair loss where the cause is unknown
• have any condition which affects your scalp, including sunburn and psoriasis
• have a shaved scalp
• have a dressing or bandage of any kind on your scalp
• have high blood pressure

When to speak to a doctor or pharmacist

Talk to your doctor or one of our pharmacists before using Regaine for Women Scalp Foam if you are taking any other medication, including:

• vasodilators (blood pressure medications), e.g. hydralazine

You should also speak to a healthcare professional before using this product if you are already using:

• dithranol (for psoriasis)
• retinoin (for acne and other skin disorders)
• corticosteroids (anti-inflammatories)
• petrolatum (a common ingredient in hair wax or hair gel)

Warning

Regaine for Women Scalp Foam can cause dizziness or low blood pressure after use. Do not attempt to drive or operate tools or machinery after using this product unless you have used it before and are sure it does not affect you this way.

How to store this product

Store Regaine for Women Scalp Foam (5%) below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
